This coffee is pretty special. It’s grown wild in the highlands of Papua New Guinea, on land owned by the native Tairora people. They harvest this coffee and sort it before taking it to the nearby Baroida Estate, who then sorts the coffee again before selling it to the specialty coffee market. Through partnering with the Baroida Estate the Tairora people are able to get top dollar for their coffee. They use that money to develop infrastructure and provide access to education, healthcare, and other basic services. This relationship also increases the value of the land, meaning that the Tairora aren’t selling this land to be used for logging or other purposes.
It's that time of year where the sun comes out and we put away our mole people goggles. To celebrate the sunshine we are switching to summer hours effective immediately.

We are moving to Winter Hours starting October 1. That means we are open the following times:
August 12-14, we’re planning a weekend-long anniversary party – with a special bottle release of our Bourbon Barrel Aged Belgian Quad (“BBABQ” for short), special keg tappings each day, and the rollout of the Rooftop Original – exclusive pint club.
The 22oz BBABQ is our first bottle release in over 2-years (and only our second bottle ever!) We will only have 1,000 of these puppies for sale, and will roll them out in stages – 30 cases on Friday, 50 on Saturday and the rest on Sunday. The BBABQ is a great beer for special occasions (like Rooftop's Anniversary Party!) and is best paired with rich food, cheeses and meats. It’s a ‘spirited’ drink, too! We aged it for 8 months in Woodford Reserve Bourbon Barrels, so it hits heavy with an ABV of 12.0%. These bottles will be for sale at $14.60 each ($16 after tax) with a limit of 6 per customer.
Our beloved braggot, Hoppin Honey, is finally back! Braggot is an ancient style of beer that blends mead and beer. It’s tasting notes include caramel, raisins, and – of course - honey.
Winner of the PNA 2016 Summer Beer Olympics!
It’s beer sleight-of-hand from our mad scientist/pilot system brewer, Bryan Myron. It looks light and tastes like a dark. How’d he do it? Well, a good magician never gives away his tricks… but let’s just say it involves lots of cocao nibs and coffee. Made with Zoka Coffee’s Buena Vista light roast coffee and cocoa nibs from Theo’s Chocolates.
To top it all off, we’ll also be unveiling our Rooftop Pint Club! The Club will be an annual membership, and members get a special “Rooftop Original” pint glass with all pints in it $1 off for the whole year. Other perks include a “member’s only” party at the end of 2017 with special beer tastings, and advanced reservation and extra bottles from Rooftop’s special bottle releases! Membership will be limited in number, so you are going to want to sign up right away. We are still working out a few details, but it will all be on the web site soon, including sign up details.
To start things off on a parental note, as many of you know this Sunday is Father’s Day. Haven’t bought your good ol’ dad a present yet? Why not buy him a pint? Or better yet, a couple! The forecast calls for sun and good cheer on Sunday and we’re offering dads a special deal of $4 pints to show them how much we appreciate them. We’ll be open from noon to 10pm, so stop on by for beer and food from Curbside Burgers and Brats.
Rooftop is in full festival mode this weekend. The Solstice Fest is in Fremont and the three day Washington Brewers fest is at Marymoor Park.
While we are not in Fremont Solstice festival in any official capacity, we are a short bike or walk away, and offer a respite from the craziness of naked cyclists. All that is fun, for sure, but we think a nice quiet pint or 2 on the Roof during the longest days of the year is even better. And if you are naked… it is a Family establishment. Please!
Washington Brewer’s Fest is an all-ages beer festival (that’s right, you can bring the kids!) at Marymoor park and offers over 500 beers to sample from 110 breweries (plus wine and cider tastings) throughout the state. Are we going to be there? You bet! Fermented libations aside, the festival will offer music, food trucks and activities for the young and old! More information about tickets and hours...
Now that we’ve got your weekend planned out with Rooftop, let’s jump slightly further into the future. Next stop: August! Coming up in August, we’ll be hosting an anniversary bash so hoppin’ it might as well be an IPA! Join us for an evening of celebration, special edition tap offerings (did we say IIPA?) and some big news of big plans in the Rooftop future (ever heard of a mug club or a growler club? You will soon! Keep your ears tuned).
More information on the shindig soon, but until then, we invite you to stop on by the Roof to celebrate a simpler pleasure: Summer! We’re open until 10pm from Sunday to Thursday and ‘til midnight on Friday and Saturday, giving you plenty of time to enjoy the summer sun and warmth in the best way possible, on the Roof with a brew!
Whelp, that about wraps it up the end of this month’s newsletter, but keep in touch! Until next time, we hope to see you in the sun, having fun and taking it easy on the Roof!
We don't think it is right that the sun is out and we are not open, so we are moving to summer hours!
Fri: 3pm - MIDNIGHT
Sun: NOON-10 pm
