Announcing Rooftop's Grand Re-Opening!
The wait is finally over!
Rooftop is oh, so very excited to announce our grand re-opening and we invite you to join in the celebration this Thursday through Sunday (August 13 – 16) at our new 15-barrel brewing facility and rooftop tasting room located at 1220 W. Nickerson St. on the north slope of Queen Anne, in the shadow of the Ballard Bridge.
Since the summer 2013, we've proudly brewed and served beer from our charmingly funky garage in the alley behind 7-Eleven near the corner of Nickerson St. and Queen Anne Ave. With tears of nostalgia and an eye towards the future, we closed the doors on the garage in September, 2014. Since then, we've been planning and building a 15-barrel production facility, tasting room, and rooftop deck, just down the street from the original garage brewery. Take it from (owner/manager/brewer) Craig:
"We’re thrilled to remain in the neighborhood, continuing to serve this amazing community that has been so gracious in its support. The idea of ‘place’ has always meant a great deal to us. We tapped into something special with our little garage and we learned a lot about the brewery we wanted to be, but it was definitely time to move on. To become an even bigger part of this community – and to finally have an actual rooftop deck – it’s all very exciting. We’d like to think we’re building a rooftop beer drinking oasis on Nickerson."
Our new location (oasis!) is in a shared building with the existing Caffe Ladro and Zoka Coffee roasteries. The tasting room will regularly feature 10 rotating taps and steps out onto a rooftop deck overlooking the Ballard Ship Canal. The space is easily accessible to cyclists via the adjacent South Ship Canal Trail and is a superbly quick detour from the Ballard Bridge.
To support this growing operation, we're also proud to announce the hire of full-time brewer, Kyle Feldman. Kyle has most recently been the head brewer at Barley’s Brewing Company in Columbus, Ohio—a 10-barrel brewpub and production brewery on the verge of a 30-barrel expansion. A graduate of nearby Seattle Pacific University, Kyle grew up blocks from the brewery. Craig says:
"Kyle is the perfect fit for Rooftop. He’s an amazing and meticulous brewer, a real craftsman, and he has roots in our neighborhood. We’re also excited to add his cask and barrel-aging expertise to our repertoire."
So please, tell your friends, tell your veterinarian, tell your hair stylist, tell your grandma... and come join us at 1220 W. Nickerson St. in celebrating this grand re-opening.
